O Come O Come Emmanuel
O Come, O come Emmanuel is translated from a Latin antiphon which dates back at least to the 9th century. It refers to the Biblical prophesy from Isaiah that sees the birth of Christ as the fulfillment of the promise made to Israel that God would send a sign called Emmanuel.
This exquisite arrangement is full of the pain and darkness of long exile and grief, in which the hope of deliverance is as yet but a tiny spark of light.
